We can't leave Buckshot Betty's place without a couple of more photos:
We're now in the wild and woolly Yukon Territory. It retains its frontier feeling. See Yukon. Lots of great scenery and gravel road south of Beaver Creek.

We're staying in Yukon's largest city, White Horse. It's also the largest city in northern Canada, with a population of fewer than 28,000 people. The place became an incorporated city in 1950, but it's been here since the 1898 gold rush.
We're taking a down day today, resting our bouncy bones and doing laundry. We drove around the city a bit just to see what we'd see, and there's not much. It appears nothing is made or grown here; they just feed and shelter tourists and sell tourist-oriented stuff. I'm glad the place is here; I don't want a repeat of Buckshot Betty's.

That gravel road is part of the Alaska Highway? Very interesting! I'm a bit sad to see you leaving Alaska, but Buckshot Betty's would've had me running, too. Your travels have convinced me that Alaska is at the top of my list of places to spend time, though the costs do seem a bit high. Can't be much worse than NY ... can it?
ReplyDeleteGlad you're taking some time to just catch your breath in a place like Whitehorse. If you find any gold, hang onto it :)
