After leaving Fort Garland, Colorado, we continued east, with a short stop for lunch at
Del's Diner. It was undistinguished.
An hour later, we came to Bent's old Fort (there's a Bent's new Fort too, but we didn't stop there). Unlike Fort Garland, it looked like a fort should look in a western movie:

As we traveled on toward our night's lodging in Garden City, Kansas, we solved a great mystery
( to us, anyway.). We had passed several trucks hauling large "things" and were at a loss to imagine what they might be. Here are pictures of one of them:
Later on, after we had passed landscape boasting hundreds of giant windmills
and saw this transshipment and storage area for windmill parts, we figured out what the giant tin cans on the big trucks had been....masts for huge electricity-producing windmills.

Pretty neat, I think.
More tomorrow, I'm tired tonight.
Those are great pics of the windmill parts! I'd never seen them in sections before, and would have been as mystified as you about the loaded trucks. It's astounding how big they are when you get up close like that.
